Perro de Agua Espanol-pdae or Spanish Water dog - SWD are docile, friendly and can be protective They are known to be loyal faithful and very happy dogs. They like to be busy, playing in the yard or people or keeping them selves occupied with a favorite toy. They are not aggressive but can be wary at first of strangers, after that they will remember you and be overjoyed to see you again. Don't be surprised if they want to play right away or sit in your lap.
They are non shedding and have curly coat so people like them because they are non allergic. Females are 27 - 37 lbs and males are 35- 45lbs.
They come in a wide array of colors with solid shades of black,(negre) brown(marron) and white(canela)they also come in bicolors with brown and white or black and white with different patterns and markings.
You never brush them, that would take out the curl and you don't trim them either, rather they have one length of their coat varying to shaved down to lengths of 5 inches. They have the curly mop look. Like an Old English sheepdog with curly hair. They are certain to steal your heart and once you own one and call them by their name they will follow you anywhere, sticking close to your side hardly ever needing a leash; they are very devoted companions and pets . As well as show dogs and hunters, retrievers and agility too. So far there have not been any major diseases or problems with this breed. Older people and families with small children all make wonderful homes for this unique rare breed. They are UKC and FCI registered.
